(updated annually in late summer/early fall) Guide for Getting Weather Reports & Live News during Hurricanes - 2020 I hope you have a hdhr device they are harder to come by right now until they release the 6 tuner version lol which has been coming soon since about mid year./r/CordCutters - Say Goodbye to your Cable TV Provider!Ĭordcutting news, advice, recommendations, questions, and information about the latest streaming services, devices, and antennas for cordcutters. I havent used a firestick in a while so i dont know what their capabilities are these days as far as what they can direct play and such which can make a difference on server requirements and streaming and such, but with emby premier you can also set it up to convert things to a more playback friendly format. Using a emby server to record and such will be fine for anything non DRM. I might be getting hdhr prime confused with the subscription service that hdhr has. I'd like to get rid of the FIOS boxes that are costing me nearly as much as as my actual cable service. I have Fire devices on every TV and we watch very little TV at this point. I'm not sure what you mean that Emby and HDHR Prime offer similar services? HDHR Prime is the hardware that accept the cable card and ships the content off to where ever. Emby app for the frontend on the Fire device. I want Emby server to handle the streaming and DVR portion. Last I checked, FIOS's channels are not DRM'd, except for Fox cable channels. I say that because they are both pretty cheap to try out for a month. ![]() ![]() Normally it would be a emby server and something like kodi as a frontend.Įmby and hdhr prime provide very similar services, i would say its best to give them both a try to see which one best suits how you wish to use them. Normally unless you are using a emby server you would not have a emby frontend, if you just had emby on a firestick it would only try to connect to an emby server. I suppose the first big question is do you have DRM locked channels? I'm probably going to give the Fire TV Recast a shot for local channels, since more often than not hockey games are blacked out from streaming. Is WMC still required or can everything be natively done through the HDHR Prime now? My end goal is to be able to watch my FIOS channels via the Fire platform (Cubes and Stick's) both at home as well as remotely when I'm on the road for work (which is every other week), preferably through Emby as the front end. I dropped the cable card and sent it back to Verizon I was trying to do the cable card thing via WMC and using Server WMC > Kodi on my Fire Sticks It just became a headache. Rehashing an old thread to get some answers that weren't covered.
